Visibility and links
Private, invite-only, link-restricted and public — and what each really means.
Every dashboard has a visibility setting that decides who can open it.
| Setting | Who can see it |
|---|---|
| Private | You, and people you invite |
| Restricted | Anyone signed in who has the link |
| Public | Anyone with the link, signed in or not |
Choosing
- Private is the default and the right one for anything with real data in it.
- Restricted suits an internal dashboard where everyone has an account but maintaining an invite list is not worth it.
- Public means genuinely public. A public link is unlisted, not secret — treat it as though it could be forwarded, because it can.
The share link
Public and restricted dashboards get a stable link. Sharing that link shares the current filter state too, so you can send somebody the exact view you are looking at.
Changing your mind
Visibility can be changed at any time and takes effect immediately. Making a public dashboard private breaks its existing links, which is the intended behaviour.
